Meet Luce!
Luce (they/them) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) practicing in North Carolina, specializing in LGBTQIA+ relationship therapy, kink-affirming counseling, and partnerships navigating polyamory, ethical non-monogamy (ENM), attachment, and communication challenges. They earned their Master of Social Work with a focus on multicultural clinical social work through the joint program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Luce also studied Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies and English Writing & Literature at Guilford College, bringing a strong foundation in understanding how identity, culture, and relationships shape our experiences.
Before entering the clinical social work field, Luce spent nearly a decade working in libraries and community-centered roles, with additional experience in housing support, sexuality education, and community programming. These experiences helped shape their appreciation for the many ways people build connection, navigate systems, and create meaningful lives outside traditional expectations. Luce brings this community-oriented perspective into their clinical work, recognizing that relationships do not exist in isolation from the social, cultural, and systemic environments in which we live.
Luce's clinical work is especially focused on LGBTQIA+ partnerships, including queer and transgender couples, polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous relationships, and kink-identifying individuals and partnerships. They support partners navigating communication difficulties, recurring conflict, attachment challenges, emotional intimacy, relationship ruptures, and the complexities of negotiating boundaries, expectations, and agreements. Whether you're working to rebuild trust, exploring a new relationship structure, or struggling to understand why the same arguments keep happening, Luce helps partners develop the awareness and practical tools needed to build more secure, intentional, and fulfilling connections.
Relationships hold tremendous potential for connection and healing, but they can also bring longstanding attachment wounds, insecurities, and unmet needs to the surface. Luce understands that navigating relationships outside traditional structures can introduce unique challenges, particularly when partners are working to define their own expectations around commitment, intimacy, autonomy, and connection. Their approach is affirming of kink dynamics, polyamory/ENM, and other relationship structures, recognizing that there is no single blueprint for a healthy partnership. Luce is passionate about helping clients move beyond inherited expectations and build relationships rooted in communication, mutual respect, consent, and shared values.
Luce's therapeutic style is transparent, relational, supportive, and collaborative. Their work draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and strengths-based, person-centered approaches. They integrate these perspectives to help partners understand their emotional responses, recognize recurring relationship patterns, develop healthier communication strategies, and navigate conflict and repair with greater intention. Their work is grounded in the belief that meaningful relational change requires curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to understand both ourselves and the people with whom we share our lives.
At the heart of Luce's work is a commitment to helping people build relationships that reflect who they are, rather than who they've been told they should be. They believe that healthy relationships can take many forms, and that every partnership deserves a therapeutic space where its identities, agreements, boundaries, and values are respected. Whether you're navigating a difficult season together, exploring new possibilities for your relationship, or working toward deeper emotional connection, Luce brings warmth, curiosity, and genuine collaboration to the process of building relationships that feel secure, authentic, and sustainable.

In addition to their relational work, Luce enjoys writing and dabbling in various fiber arts including knitting and quilting. They can identify a handful of wild mushroom species, many native plants, and maybe one birdcall. When they are not appreciating nature, they are often watching Buffy or other canonically queer vampires on TV and cooking for friends. They have two cats who are both named after poets.
